Assess Risk
Forests in Focus helps members to assess risks in the landscapes surrounding virgin fiber mills, identify critical ecological needs in those areas, and make measurable conservation impacts on the ground. Our sustainability risk assessments are based on seven key criteria and backed by trusted data from the USDA Forest Service, NatureServe and others*. Furthermore, these valuable sustainability insights are available for a single mill or a selection of multiple mills.

Identify Opportunities
Forests in Focus identifies opportunities to create sustainability impacts where forest products are sourced. We only list projects that have been evaluated thoroughly to respond directly to sustainability issues identified in the platform, and that effectively and authentically engage family woodland owners and deliver measurable conservation outcomes on the ground. As a defining characteristic of Forests in Focus, these sustainability initiatives offer an important collaboration mechanism by connecting state agencies, conservation organizations and family forest owners with industry to achieve positive conservation impacts.
Make an Impact
We know just how complex the forest products supply chain can be. That’s why having access to data and insights specific to where you source is so critical to setting and reaching sustainability goals.
Forests in Focus provides members with the information they need to:
- Engage their supply chain in productive, data driven dialog.
- Connect with family forest owners and conservation organizations.
- Demonstrate environmental stewardship and how a commitment to responsible forest management makes for good business, strong community partnerships and healthy, productive forests.
